Slow Progress

Not really managed to do much this week. Just put in a couple of uprights in and some of the rear end assembly which is reasonably difficult as it has a number of constraints. I have also found a type 9 gearbox at a scrapyard but I have left it there as to begin with I am going to dedicate my funds to more relevant things i.e the rest of the steel. I have also put my automatic propshaft on Ebay as it does not fit the diff.

Front End

Few pics of the front end had a bit of a problem with the front frame as some idiot aligned the jig the wrong way round so the FF2&3wouldn't fit. Its Ok though only took about 2 hours to work out the problem. Put in TR8 which might have to be moved back to locate the zetec engine far enough back to put the gear stick in the correct place in the transmission tunnel. I know this thanks to the Haynes Forum.

Measuring

A few pictures of the wide selection of measuring equipment which we used to mark the chassis dimensions on a piece of resin coated plywood. Obviously it is these we will blame if there is any misalignment when fabricating.

The Beginning

I have started this blog as I recently purchased an Escort mk6 with 4 months MOT for only £290. This car has a zetec engine, which i intend to put in a Haynes Roadster. I am going to run the car for the remainder of the MOT then take the engine and other parts out before scrapping it. A few months back I bought a sierra diff, driveshafts, propshaft (automatic i think), rear hubs, front hubs, brake master cylinder, front and rear brakes for the amazing price of £10. So as far as donor parts go i'm not so far of apart from custom injection system and a type 9 gearbox.
